Born the son of a Baptist minister in Colorado, David E. Burkholder made his profession of faith in Christ when only six years old. He gave his life to the service of the Master while still in high school, and after graduating from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, with a degree in theology, he entered the ministry. He has also received a bachelor's and master's degrees from Baptist Christian University in Shreveport, LA. He pastored in California, Arizona, and Houston, Texas prior to becoming the pastor at Trinity Baptist Church, where he has pastored since 1983. He and his wife, Marsha, recently observed their 43th wedding anniversary. Their son Paul and his wife Lorena have been blessed with three daughters, Madison Krista, and Leah.

As a guiding standard for his ministry, the Pastor borrows from the Apostle Paul's words in Ephesians 3:7-8, which reads, "Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of His power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ."
